Messages from Mars- Astrology you can understand for the week of 2/18-2/24

Pisces season is here, bringing all the emotions with it. If you’re feeling exhausted, lean into it—this is a time to rest and process rather than push forward. Pisces is the sign of the refugee, a reminder to extend care and support to those who need an extra hand.

From a medical astrology perspective, Pisces season tends to bring fluid retention and inflammatory stagnation. With Saturn, Neptune, and the North Node in Pisces, the body feels sluggish- even I didn't want to wake up this morning. But the body is holding onto lymph and fluids instead of moving them out because of those planets trying to hold tight to everything. Astragalus root and cleavers are excellent allies to support circulation and get things flowing again.

February 19 –

The Moon will be making significant aspects, trining both Mars and Saturn. This is excellent if you’re trying to tonify the uterus or if it's bulking season in your workout routine, but it’s not a great time for giving birth. I learned this lesson the hard way after 3 days of inducing and then forcefully breaking my water- still no bebe. Why? A grand trine keeps things locked in place, and if there’s one thing you don’t want during labor, it’s an astrological transit that keeps everything stuck!

The Moon also opposes Uranus, which brings Uranus energy into your emotions- why? Well, Uranus is a slower moving planet, so it has nothing but time to power up its energy. The Moon is constantly movin' and grooving', so though the energy is nourishing (hello, moon bathing!), it's not as powerful as Uranus. So when they're in an opposition, there is a tug of war and Uranus will dominate and create  unpredictable emotional reactions rather than pausing to breathe and then respond. Big feelings in the moment will feel like they're there forever but they will pass quickly.  Breathe, reach for your bottle of Tranquillium, and remember that this will be a great day to wait to reply to emails that are triggering.

February 20 –

The Moon in Sagittarius squares the Pisces Sun. This is a day where important details may slip through the cracks. Since Sagittarius rules the hips, this could also manifest as hip discomfort or like your hip slipping out (could you fucking imagine?!). If you’re a power lifter and its leg day, this is not the day to push it on your PR.

Mercury (also in Pisces) squares Jupiter in Gemini, creating mental overload and painful feet. That sounds random, but follow me here. Mercury is our nervous planet and in the sign related to mental health and also ruler of the feet. And Jupiter, think abundance, is in the sign of racing thoughts and the hands. So when we sleuth out the medical astrology of it all, this can show the collective having too many ideas flood in at once, making it difficult to focus. If you struggle with brain fog, mental clutter, or executive function challenges, this transit could make you want to pull your hair out. A supportive herbal blend like Claritas can help you discern between important ideas to help you keep your job and stoner ideas that will be excellent after work.

February 21 –

The Moon squares Saturn, a transit that can have you in an emotional chokehold. Saturn processes emotions in a rigid, restrictive way, while the Sagittarius Moon wants freedom. It's giving "2025 in the United States when you're not a CIS white corporate bro" vibes. This tension creates a pressure cooker of emotions, leaving a sense of frustration and feeling like you lack the ability to change your stars. Pisces season reminds us that sometimes feeling the feels, AND remembering they won't last forever, is most important.

The best way to navigate this transit is through movement because Sagittarius is a sign that needs to get the legs moving to relieve stress. If you can, get outside and enjoy the sun on your face. If the weather is shit, even looking at images of nature or visualizing outdoor experiences can help shift your state. During lockdown, I was watching videos of rollercoasters and waterslides anytime I was feeling stuck. It was a surprisingly effective way to combat stagnation—an approach that can still work when my emotions feel stuck!

February 23 –

Since October, Mars has been working us toward this frustrating retrograde cycle, slowing down progress in both physical energy, professional drive, and conflict resolution. Now that Mars is stationing direct, movement resumes. FINALLY!

If you've been dealing with the symptoms of a lingering bug, especially in the lungs or stomach, the movement will bring relief. Similarly, if you've been stuck in an unresolved conflict, asking for promotions that just seem unanswered- expect things to finally move forward. And if you're focused on strength training, this is when you'll see some solid gainz! Just remember—earlier in the week, the Sagittarius Moon made leg day risky, so don’t overdo it.
