Messages from Mars- Astrology you can understand for the week of Dec. 17th-23th

This week’s astrology has a fiery start, a grounding shift midweek, and a call to reflect as we transition into Capricorn season. I’ve broken down each day to help you navigate the week with clarity, healing, and balance—whether you’re diving deep into your own chart or just need a quick heads-up from the universe.

Here is the astrology for the week. I did the work, so you don't have to!

December 17:

The Sun is at 23° Sagittarius and is fucking GIFT. Why? This is a critical healing degree linked to appendicitis and ulcers (ah the benefits of working with a medical astrologer is that you know fun stuff like this). Thanks, universe! So in addition to avoiding the stuff that aggravates your system, its an ideal time for self-care in the form of holistic health.

The Moon is on opposite sides to Pluto, making it feel awkward and filled with intense emotional energy. If you’re feeling up to it, channel this fire into creative or physical outlets. It’s also a fantastic day to make remedies like fire cider (learn about it here) or circulation-boosting herbal blends because your remedies carry the energy of the exact time you craft them (Hellllooooo, Alchemy!)

December 18:

Around 8:30 a.m., the Sun squares Neptune, a funky aspect for mental health. When we talk "squares" we want to think about mars energy. Kinda prickly, not willing to give a lot of compromise, and also very eager to blaze a path for its own benefit. So that's the energy building between these two signs and planets that are in them. Sagittarius' Sun has expansive energy clashes with Neptune’s dreamy waters, creating a “drifting too far from shore” feeling.

But both Sagittarius and Pieces (where Neptune is rn) are ruled by Jupiter and sometimes Jupiters silly little prank goes too far and next thing you know you stole the principals car and are on a dangerous joyride. Similarly, those little feelings of self doubt can feel grandiose and overwhelming today. If you or your loved ones feel down, get help in whatever way you need. You are important and even I am here! This is a great time for everyone to take time to ground yourself—walk, journal, or connect with a friend.

By 3 p.m., the Moon joins Mars, and it’s not the best time for precision-based activities (like tattoos). Which is such a bummer because I totally love some self-love in the form of tattoo therapy. Alas, save big decisions or permanent commitments for a day or two later, yeah?

December 19:

With the Moon in Leo and the Sun in Sagittarius at 27°, the day brims with potential for the holistic healing that is nothing short of a miracle. These late degrees, where the Sun is in a fire sign, offer transformational opportunities, especially for those focusing on health and vitality. At the very least, it’s a rad day to assess how far you’ve come and set intentions for moving forward.

December 20:

The Moon in Virgo reminds us to care for our digestive and nervous systems because virgo rues the GI. Skip seconds at your company holiday party and maybe bring a not so heavy side so everyone else can feel good too as the day rolls. One thing about virgo, you dont want to overeat (trust me!). Also, work with  calming herbs like lemon balm (as long as you dont have thyroid issues), skullcap, or passionflower.

With the Moon squaring Mercury, the nervous system is all out of whack and we are communicating from a pace of ego and not so much our healed self, so communication may feel a bit off—think before you speak to avoid misunderstandings.

December 21:

Yule is here, marking the Winter Solstice and the darkest day of the year. For me, it’s all about honoring Saturn, the ruler of this season, which connects to our skeletal system, skin, and joints. Saturn teaches us resilience, patience, and boundaries—a perfect energy for winter. Think about it- this time of year, our skin feels drier, the cold hits deeper into our bones, and our joints might ache more. Saturn reminds us to pay attention to these signals and care for ourselves. I'll be burning a fire to call in the light and symbolically welcome the longer days ahead.

This year, Yule kicks off with extra earth energy from the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Capricorn. It’s a prime time to focus on your health and body. Around 6 a.m., while this earthy energy peaks, take at least 30 minutes to check in with yourself!

December 22:

At 7:30 a.m., the Moon opposes Neptune, a gentle nudge to focus on your emotional side. With Libra ruling the kidneys, expect to be freeing a lot because this is a great day to release both physically and emotionally. Avoid risky decisions, as the South Node sits with the Moon making it not the best time to be  taking chances or betting against the house.

December 23:

With Capricorn season fully underway, lean into the grounded energy to set practical goals and prepare for the year ahead. Book a year ahead reading and learn what dates are magnetizing your abundance!

This week bridges fiery clarity and our connecting to ourselves- it's like the ultimate cosmic vision board for the new year-or for the final stretch of the year. A yearly reminder (especially this year and as we enter 2025) to light the fire inside of you! Consider reading revolutionary works, like those written by Huey P. Newton or Emma Goldman (both favorites of mine) to create the sparks.

In solidarity,
Elizabeth
